- Working Principle:
By simulating common conditions in the natural environment, such as salt spray, dryness, humidity, ambient temperature static placement, low temperature, etc., and combining them, tests are conducted on the samples in a set sequence or individually. For instance, the samples are first exposed to a salt spray environment for a period of time, then switched to a dry environment, followed by a humid environment, and so on, in a cycle. This accelerates the corrosion process of the samples, allowing for an assessment of their corrosion resistance within a relatively short period of time.
The Bernoulli principle is adopted to draw salt water and then atomize it, making the salt fog naturally settle and evenly distributed, ensuring the accuracy of the test.
- Structural Composition:
- Box structure: The box is generally made of corrosion-resistant materials such as PP impact-resistant plates and stainless steel. It is formed by high-temperature welding after integral molding, featuring corrosion resistance, easy cleaning and no leakage.
- Spray system: It includes nozzles, salt water supply device, compressed air supply device, etc. The nozzles adopt non-crystallizing spray nozzles, eliminating the risk of salt clogging. There is a tower-type spray system equipped with a salt liquid filtration system, which can ensure uniform salt spray distribution and freely adjustable sedimentation volume.
- Control system: Usually, intelligent temperature and humidity meters are adopted for control. Multiple test parameters can be set, such as temperature, humidity, salt spray deposition amount, test time, and spray mode, etc. Moreover, it features continuous or periodic spray selection, automatic timing, and over-temperature protection, among other functions.
Other components: such as constant temperature water bath, water level controller, temperature sensor, observation window, sample rack, etc.
- Technical Parameters:
- Temperature range: The temperature range of different models of composite salt spray test chambers varies. Generally, it is from about 5°C above room temperature to around 70°C. However, for some test chambers with special requirements, the temperature range is wider.
- Temperature uniformity: Generally, the temperature uniformity is required to be ≤ 2℃ to ensure that the temperature difference at different positions within the test chamber is within a small range.
Temperature fluctuation: The temperature fluctuation is ≤ ±0.5℃, ensuring the stability of the temperature.
- Salt spray deposition rate: Generally, it is 1-2 ml/h·80 cm² (at least collect for 16 hours and take the average value). The accuracy of the salt spray deposition rate directly affects the reliability of the test results.
- Spray pressure: The common spray pressure is 1.00 ± 0.01 kgf/cm², ensuring the normal ejection of salt spray.
- Application fields:
Automotive industry: Corrosion resistance testing is used for automotive components such as engines, transmissions, braking systems, and body parts to assess their service life and reliability in harsh environments.
In the aerospace field, salt spray corrosion tests are conducted on aviation equipment such as aircraft components and avionics to ensure their reliability and safety at high altitudes.
- Electronics industry: Test the salt spray corrosion resistance of electronic products, electronic components, circuit boards, etc., to ensure the quality of electronic products.
